About

We invite you to spend time in Atkins Library collaborating, studying, researching with our physical and online research materials, using computers, software, and equipment, getting assistance, learning from exhibits and events, attending an instructional session, or just relaxing with a popular or new book from our Popular Reading Area.

Atkins offers over 3 million volumes, including 1.4 million e-books, over 450 databases, and approximately 212,000 journals, the vast majority available electronically. The building has 285,000 square feet with 1,928 seats and 324 computers available for student use. We have approximately 1.5 million visits per year. We look forward to welcoming you soon.

Atkins Library Overview

We also recommend the Hight Architecture Library on the 2nd Floor (Room 200) of Storrs Hall, which houses the College of Arts & Architecture, as a quiet place to study. The Architecture Library is our only branch library and is open to the UNC Charlotte population when the building and library are open. High ceilings with lots of windows, unique art, the architecture book collection, and large study tables make for an aesthetically-pleasing study environment.
