Library Collections

The Collection Services Unit is responsible for purchasing, managing and assessing the library's general collection including print books, ebooks, journals, databases, streaming video, and other library materials.

Our work includes: 

  • Purchasing new resources
     
  • Managing subscriptions to current resources
     
  • Spending the allotted budget responsibly
     
  • Maintaining access to library resources
     
  • Assisting students and faculty with access issues
     
  • Preserving print materials for continued use
     
  • Shepherding the process of reviewing current materials for deselection and cancellation
     

We keep close count of the materials we currently provide:

  • Books - 728,928 volumes
     
  • eBooks - 2,246,378 titles
     
  • Serials - 230,778 titles
     
  • Databases - 517
     
  • Media - 235,759 titles (including DVDs, LPs, Streaming video, etc.)
     
  • US Government Documents - 691,874 documents
     
  • NC Government Documents - 49,851 documents
